How we test graphics cards

Our repeatable GPU benchmarking method for frame rates, frame times, power, thermals, noise, VRAM limits, and value.

GPU conclusions are based on repeatable workloads and current street prices, not a single average frame-rate chart.

Test platform and controls

Every result records the CPU, motherboard, memory configuration, power supply, operating system build, graphics driver, game version, API, resolution, preset, upscaling mode, and frame-generation state. Background tasks and power settings remain controlled across comparison runs.

What we measure

  • Average frame rate plus 1% lows and frame-time traces.
  • Native rendering, upscaling, and generated frames reported separately.
  • Board power, temperature, clock behavior, and acoustic behavior after warm-up.
  • VRAM pressure, visible compromises, and repeatable traversal or shader-compilation stutter.
  • Value per frame using a dated, region-specific street price.

How recommendations are made

A graphics card can win on value without being the fastest. The final recommendation considers performance consistency, memory headroom, power and case requirements, feature support, warranty, and credible alternatives at the checked price.
